Should I see an orthopaedic surgeon or a neurosurgeon for my spine problem?
I am in my early 30s. When I was 26, I made the mistake of diving into shallow water at a pond. I fractured my neck and became paralyzed from the arms down. No surgery was performed on my neck and I have never improved. I feel spasms in the muscles of my neck and constant pain. I feel as though I am having more and more difficulty holding up my chin and looking straight ahead and upward. What can be done to help?
I have been diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis. My orthopedic doctor said the success rate for this surgery is 90 percent. Is surgery my only answer to get my quality of life back?
My son is 42 and was told by two doctors that he needs surgery for a bad disc in his neck. He has had pain in his arm and neck for six months. Medications and physical therapy have not helped. Is surgery the only solution? Which procedures have been found to be successful? The doctor told him that he can lose control of his voice box from the surgery. Can this happen? I have read articles about a treatment with an extract from a papaya plant. Is this treatment useful?
My daughter has been diagnosed with scoliosis, or curvature of the spine. She has been told that she needs to wear a brace and that she may require surgery. Can you explain this further to me and tell me what should I do?
My friend had laser back surgery but does not seem to be recuperating as fast as he was told he would. How is this surgery different from the conventional way and is it better?
