Should I see an orthopaedic surgeon or a neurosurgeon for my spine problem?
I have been having spasms and pain in my neck for about two months. X-rays show a narrowing of the spinal canal. My doctor tells me that I also have arthritis in my neck. I am taking Lodine and have had quite a bit of physical therapy without any improvement in the spasms or pain. I would welcome any suggestions that you might have.
I have been suffering for a couple of years with neck pain. I have not been involved in a car accident or any other type of trauma or fall, so I am puzzled as to its cause. The pain normally occurs daily in the back of my neck. It feels as though the joints or muscles are intertwined or locked and the pain goes to my head, resulting in a migraine headache. I need to constantly move my head around to reduce the chances of pain going to my head. I have seen several chiropractors and two orthopedic surgeons and been treated with massage, heat, cold and medications. Relafen helped for a few months. I had an MRI and X-rays. Both showed nothing except mild degeneration and a slight improper curvature and I was told that these could not account for the pain I am having, that it is "just neck pain." I find it difficult to believe that this is "just neck pain." Doesn't something need to be causing it? Can you shed any light on this problem for me?
